New Australian Bishops Delegate for Youth

At the inaugural meeting of the new Australian Bishops Commission for Evangelisation, Laity and Ministry, the new Australian Bishops Delegate for Youth was appointed: Bishop Columba Macbeth-Green OSPPE of Wilcannia Forbes Diocese.

Bishop Columba made his Solemn Profession in the Order of St Paul the Hermit in 1996 and was ordained a priest the following year. He has served as Parish Priest, police chaplain and Provincial Vicar of the Pauline Fathers for Australia.

He was ordained Bishop of Wilcannia Forbes on 3 July 2014 at Holy Family Church in Parkes, NSW.
Bishop Columba is also the chairperson of the Australian Bishops Commission for Relations with Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander Peoples.

“I am excited to be appointed the Bishop’s Delegate for Youth at such an important time for the Church in Australia,” Bishop Columba said.

“I look forward to building upon the recent Year of Youth and carrying forward the voice of the young Church into the Plenary Council,” he said.

“I acknowledge and thank Archbishop Fisher Op for his passionate work with young people over the past six years and I look forward to working with Archbishop Prowse and the Bishop’s Commission for Evangelisation, Laity and Ministry into the future.”
