Vietnamese Bishop Aloysius Gonzaga Nguyễn Hùng Vị of the Catholic Diocese of Kontum, met with Auxiliary Bishop Donald Sproxton and Vicar General Fr Peter Whitely in the absence of Perth Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB on Friday 20 September.

Cloverdale Parish Priest Fr Michael Quynh and Banksia Grove Parish Priest Fr Vinh Dong were also in attendance.

Fr Quynh told The Record that the Vietnamese Bishop’s short six-day stay gave him the opportunity to strengthen existing connections between the Archdiocese of Perth, while being able to visit the many priests and faithful within the community.

“Bishop Nguyen was thrilled to be able to connect with the community again since his last visit in October 2018.

“He also celebrated Mass with the Vietnamese community at Cloverdale Parish last Sunday and visited the Banksia Grove Parish before leaving to Sydney,” he added.
