Perth father Daniel Delgado has won the 2019 St John of God Raphael Services’ “Healthy Men, Healthy Minds” photo competition.

Daniel’s photo was chosen as the overall winner from a record number of 318 entries and will receive a DJI Spark mini drone for capturing the special moment with his son.

Each year, Raphael Services runs the national photo competition during Men’s Health Week to raise awareness of the one in 10 dads who experience perinatal anxiety and depression.

Participants are asked to submit a photograph that captures a positive relationship between a child and a significant male in their life.

National Director Raphael Services Helen McAllister said the “Healthy Men, Healthy Minds competition” continued to grow year-on-year and was a positive way to generate awareness about men’s emotional health and wellbeing. Photo: Supplied.

Daniel said the winning photo was taken by himself during an impromptu drive to the park with his 2-year-old son Liam.

“During my time off I got to spend lots of amazing time with my boy, as he loves the parks and going for little walks with his dad or the whole family. This also helped my amazing wife Donna [who does a lot for us all] to look after our new son Evan,” Daniel said.

“When I saw how nice the sunset was and how much Liam was laughing at me being funny – I thought I’d capture the moment.

“Liam and I share a very special bond and every day when I go to work, he always waves at me in the front window and runs up to me when I arrive home. It truly warms my heart that I have such a special family full of love.”

The hobbyist photographer will use his winning prize to continue to take nature and landscape photographs around Perth.

Congratulations also go to Barbara and Lyn for their entries as runners-up in the competition.
