The Redemptorist community at North Perth Parish has last weekend celebrated the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, enjoying music played by the Fremantle Chamber Orchestra.

Fr Sam Kono CSsR of the Monastery Church said the community gathered to celebrate the monumental day and enjoyed musical pieces especially chosen for this occasion.

Four members of FCO, two violinists, a violist, and a cellist performed excerpts of string quartets by Abel, Bach, Schubert, and Mozart.

Cellist and director of FCO Hans Hug said the Redemptorist Monastery was supportive of the not-for-profit orchestral group, as FCO provides performance experience to young professional musicians, advanced UWA and WAAPA students, WASO casuals, and freelancers.

Mr Hug said it was a pleasure to play at the Redemptorist Monastery in front of a crowded reception and most grateful that FCO can perform at the “beautiful church with its wonderful acoustics”.

“We are lucky to be able to give concerts at the Redemptorist Monastery and are happy when we can contribute to the vibrant community at the church,” Mr Hug expressed.
