Recently crowned as a joint winner of the Master Builder’s Bankwest Excellence in Construction Award, the Corpus Christi College Theatre was officially opened with a special ceremony on Tuesday 27 August 2019.

Executive Director of Catholic Education Western Australia Dr Debra Sayce unveiled the plaque to a crowd of distinguished guests and Catholic community members.

After Bateman Parish Priest Father Phong Nguyen blessed the building on behalf of the Perth Archdiocese, guests were treated to three student performances showcasing the College’s strength in dance, music, and drama.

“After recently presenting the dance gala and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast productions to sell-out audiences – prompting extensions to both seasons – we believe our newest facility has been a resounding success,” Principal Caroline Payne said.

In addition to seating for more than 400 guests, features include bespoke acoustic panelling, an enhanced sound system, a multi-function hydraulic orchestra pit, and digital LED screens and lighting.

Beyond the performing arts, Mrs Payne explained that the theatre would also support a full range of student activities, allowing all students to embrace a learning philosophy of togetherness, creativity and collaboration.

Established in 1983, Corpus Christi College is a private, co-educational, Catholic, Secondary College, located in Bateman WA.
