Fr Rob considers his “Something About You” album to be his “best music project yet” and claims that the album is both reflective of the trials and successes of his journey as a Catholic priest.

The Shepparton priest released his new and much awaited acoustic album, Something About You, to the delight of thousands of expectant fans on October 25.

Fr Rob considers this to be his “best music project yet” and claims that the album is both reflective of the trials and successes of his journey as a Catholic priest, and of his attempt to explore the more generic issues of sorrow, surrender, stillness and joy through music.

The album took four years to compose, and Fr Rob says he is elated to see the final product in the hands of those who enjoy and are inspired by his Christian music.

“These songs are the stories behind the encounters with God and those moments desperately seeking His face when He is nowhere to be found,” Fr Rob said.

“They are testimonies of my experience of attempting to serve and to be served by the people of God.

Something About You is the fruit of my journey as a new Catholic priest. There are songs about the unconditional love of Jesus, the struggle to pray and say something about God.

As a way of commemorating the late Bishop Joe Grech, who passed away in 2011 and who inspired much of Fr Galea’s music, one of the songs in the album features Bishop Joe’s voice.

“Bishop Joe was always encouraging and not only gave me pastoral and spiritual support but also urged me to continue writing songs and play music,” Fr Rob said.

He would go on to perform a special tribute song in honour of Bishop Joe at the Australian World Youth Day gathering in Madrid the same year.

The 11 tracks in the Something About You album are suitable for all ages and walks of life and involve the work of Boris Cezek (Eurovision) and Gary Pinto (X Factor Australia).

The album is the eighth addition to Fr Rob’s repertoire alongside Closer [2008], What A Day [2010], Divine Mercy Chaplet [2010], Reach Out [2012], Reach Out DVD/CD [2012], Sheet Music Collection [2013] and Glorify (Mass Setting) [2013].

In a message to those who go beyond perceiving his work as mere music, but see it as a way of seeking and encountering God, Fr Rob said this album will help listeners to think, pray and reflect.

“It will be a resource for school prayer, liturgy and meditation as well as be good company on your long drives to and from work.”

Given the success of his past music projects, Fr Rob’s new album is bound to strike a new chord within his listeners and hopefully be a contributing factor to their ongoing acquisition of faith.
