Lesmurdie resident Colleen Grant is approaching her tenth year of volunteering at Mercy Health’s Villa Maria home in Lesmurdie.

The Girl Guides Leader and mum of five has been volunteering her time at the Mercy Health residential home, Villa Maria, every week for almost nine years, providing hands-on care to the residents by giving them regular manicures and helping with outings and events.

“I definitely get more out of volunteering than I give,” says Ms Grant, who is also a swimming instructor.

“I love spending times with the residents: they inspire me as much as I would like to think I pamper them, and volunteering has also given me the opportunity to meet many wonderful people; I would recommend volunteering to anyone because there are so many benefits.”

Mercy Health WA State Manager, Anita Ghose, said Mercy Health was extremely appreciative of its wonderful volunteers, like Colleen.

“We have an incredible group of dedicated volunteers of all ages who help make Mercy Health the real community it is, and we can’t thank them enough for their support,” she says.

Anyone who is keen to find out about more volunteering opportunities at Mercy Health’s Villa Maria Home, can call Care Manager Brenda Murray on 08 9291 6314.
