The Members of St John of God Australia Limited have announced the appointment of Sister Anne Derwin as a Trustee of St John of God Health Care (SJGHC) and a Director of St John of God Limited.

Her appointment commenced on 1 July.

Sr Anne has previously served as a SJGHC Board member from 2004 until 2009.

SJGHC Chairman of Trustees Eva Skira welcomed Sr Anne’s appointment and said her knowledge and understanding of SJGHC would be a great advantage in taking up her new role.

“Sr Anne has strong credentials in Church and civil governance and her previous term as a SJGHC Board member means she already has a good understanding of the culture and mission of SJGHC.

“She also has a strong record of Catholic leadership and formation, and her personal qualities and demonstrated capacity to lead are attributes that are very highly regarded and will be well utilised as a Trustee of SJGHC.”

Sr Anne has served as Congregational Leader of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart (2008-2014), during which time she oversaw the process for the canonisation of St Mary MacKillop.

She was also President of Catholic Religious Australia from 2010-2012 and has held other directorships at Mount Saint Joseph Milperra and St Anthony’s Family Care.

She is currently Chair of Good Grief, an organisation that provides programs for children, young people and adults dealing with grief and loss.
