The second of three concerts held in St Mary’s Cathedral, Perth this year is ready to delight the ears of music lovers.

Themed A Pageant of Hymns, the concert will take place on Sunday, 9 August at 2pm and will feature a vast array of favourite traditional and modern hymns.

Choral favourites will be sung by the wonderful voices of the Cathedral choir and there will be a chance for the audience to feel part of the concert by engaging in a singalong.

Accompanying many of the hymns will be a string ensemble and the grand sounds of the Cathedral’s Dodd pipe organ.

By popular demand, Bach’s famous Toccata and Fugue in d minor BWV 565 will be included within a selection of popular organ solos.

Other favourites such as as Finlandia, Amazing Grace, Deep River and lots more are among a repertoire that is bound to stir the souls of the audience and hopefully bring many back for the third and final concert of the 2015 series.

The final concert, themed Music for Wind and Brass, will take place on Tuesday, 27 October at 7.30pm.

This concert will be presented jointly with the UWA School of Music and will feature the UWA Symphonic Chorus, UWA Vocal Consort and the Cathedral choir in an explosion of music from the Renaissance to the present day.

The cost of tickets is $35 ($28 concession). Tickets available from the Cathedral piety stall, online at www.ticketswa.com or by calling 08 6488 2440.
