The St Vincent de Paul Society’s annual Street Appeal was held last week on Friday, 11 September, with numerous dedicated volunteers out and about in the community “shaking a tin” for Vinnies.

All funds raised from the annual Vinnies Street Appeal allows the St Vincent de Paul Society to continue its good works and help people in need in Western Australia.

St Vincent de Paul CEO Mark Fitzpatrick said the money raised goes towards providing emergency relief and support to families and individuals.

“The Society responds to welfare needs in the community by way of food, clothing, furniture and financial assistance,” Mr Fitzpatrick said.

“The annual street appeal is an important funding source for the Society’s emergency relief program and any donation makes a real difference in the lives of people doing it tough.”

“Last year, Vinnies provided emergency relief to around 40,000 people in WA.

“With a high cost of living and increases in the cost of utilities, we are experiencing a higher number of people struggling financially so we are hoping West Australians will give what they can,” Mr Fitzpatrick said.

“We have over 1,000 volunteers across WA who go out into the community to help people in need,” he said.

“We are also incredibly grateful to the many schools and corporate supporters who gave up their time and came into the Perth CBD on the day to collect for Vinnies.”
