According to the Bishops’ mandate, “parish and Catholic school decision-makers need to work together.

Otherwise their evangelisation activities for families and for young people will not complement each other.

Nor will they, in their respective ways, help young people to become involved in their parish and diocesan communities”.

The Kolbe Catholic College community is blessed to have wonderful support from its local parishes.

On two occasions each term, parish priests come together with members of the staff ministry team to discuss issues pertaining to the faith development of the school’s students.

These meetings provide a forum for planning events to encourage students to become more involved in their own parish community.

In addition, it keeps local priests informed about the types of activities students are initiating within the college to ensure Christ’s message is central to our community.

At the first meeting held for 2014, agenda items included: Reconciliation, Masses, Australian Catholic Youth Festival, strategic plan and celebrating the college’s 25th anniversary.

Those in attendance were Fr Johnson Malayil CRS from Our Lady of Lourdes, Fr Gavin Gomez from St Bernadette’s, Fr Geoff Aldous from Mother Teresa’s Parish, Fr Brennan Sia from St

Vincent’s, Kolbe principal Robyn Miller, assistant deputy principal and campus minister Pat Branson, and head of religious education Kelly Stirling.

Kolbe Catholic College is quite unique from other secondary schools as it celebrates before-school weekday Masses.

This is thanks to the generous support of its local priests.
