Youth from Thornlie parish were last month given the opportunity to meet Archbishop Timothy Costelloe, in addition to presenting him with questions about current issues and topics.

In speaking with the young people, Archbishop Costelloe asked those present if they had any ideas about how not only their parish, but the Church in general, might become more “young people friendly”.

A representative from the parish said the youth were immensely impressed and inspired with the very helpful and open discussions.

“The Archbishop offered many words of support and encouragement to the young people and reminded them that the Lord is at the heart of the Church and that our task is to be the best disciples we can be,” the representative said.

“The young people felt truly blessed and grateful to have had the opportunity to meet and speak with the Archbishop, whom they consider to be genuinely warm, friendly and very approachable, with a great sense of humour.

“He is someone who truly cares for and respects the young people of today.”
